Urban Kiz Classes

Our regular progressive training program will resume in September, with 2 levels of in a 5-week series:

• Foundations for beginners is a 75-min class series taught by Jennifer (this class replaces the previous Level 1 & Level 2). The Fall session series in Sept-Oct will be on Thursday evenings starting Sept 25, on sale now.

• Improvers for intermediate level is a 90-min class series taught by Jennifer & Nii (guest instructor from DC via danceflowhaven collaboration) for students who have graduated from Foundations or Levels 1 & 2 or completed equivalent training elsewhere (instructor evaluation may be required to enroll). Improvers series are topical, each session dives deep into a technical theme. The format of the class is 60-min of instruction followed by 30 mins of guided practica. The Fall session series in Sept-Oct will be on Tuesday evenings starting Sept 9, on sale now.

Students who will miss more than 1 class of Foundations will be required to schedule a private in order to keep up with the remaining classes and be ready to advance to Improvers. All students are required to join the Class Hub via WhatsApp to get updates from instructors and class recap videos.

All progressive classes will be on break for the week of September 15th.

Enrollment in any series includes complimentary admission to Tuesday kizzouk practice social 8:30-10pm during the series (a $30 value), and also entitles students to discounted rates on private lessons booked during the series.

Flow Control Masterclass with guest artist Pamelita will focus on body mechanics and partner communication to the enable smooth, intricate, dynamic direction changes utilizing all the transitions we love to watch advance dancers execute on the dance floor - pivots, crosses, hooks.

This unique training opportunity is intermediate+ level - open to dancers who have completed Foundations or Level 1 & 2 with Dançarina Events, or equivalent Urban Kiz basics elsewhere (contact us for approval to enroll if you have not trained with us).

Masterclass will be on Tuesday, August 12th 7-8:30pm at The Ox (Jennifer's house). Enrollment in class includes entry to the weekly kizzouk practice social immediately afterward, 8:30-10pm.

About Pamelita:

Hailing from Texas, she grew up immersed in Latin dances and Country Swing until discovering Kizomba, which captivated her immediately. Acquiring proficiency in Kizomba and Tarraxinha in San Antonio, she also started embracing "French Style" prior to the establishment of Urbankiz, as its formal denomination in the United States. Drawing inspiration from dancers like Laurent & Adeline, Chamalo, Kizzy, Michaela, Arnold Bunda, Albir, and her dance partner, Audi, she honed her skills in the dance form.

Revered as one of the foremost practitioners of Kizomba and Urbankiz in North America, she achieved first place ranking in the North American Kizomba Olympiads of 2017 and secured second place in the Paris Kizomba Olympiads that same year, where she competed alongside her partner Audi. Serving as a judge for the North American Kizomba Olympiads of 2018 and the Paris Kizomba Olympiads of 2022, she has also imparted her expertise in various other dance competitions both domestically and internationally.

Presently, she voyages globally on a full-time basis, delivering instruction in Urbankiz, Kizomba fundamentals, and Tarraxo to individuals and partners. Emphasizing the comprehension of biomechanics, musicality, expression, and techniques for leading and following, she fervently imparts her knowledge and passion for the art of dance.
